Chris Diener, PhD, JD,  MBA

With two decades of experience across areas of marketing, marketing research and business management, Chris Diener brings a combination of world class analytic expertise and strategic marketing insight. He has consulted internationally with a range of companies from the corporate giants such as Microsoft, IBM, Frito-Lay, Clorox, Hilton, and GE, to smaller clients such as ballet companies and innovative start-ups looking for investors. He has worked on high-end analytics and also on the front lines in client engagements, and even used market research starting and growing his own business. A common thread through all of these experiences is Chris’ desire to more effectively understand underlying relationships and processes and to not only find the structure but then to enhance and build upon it.

He is a leader in developing and applying advanced applications of choice modeling, segmentation, predictive and exploratory modeling, and data fusion—leveraging the value of database information by linking it to custom research data. Dr. Diener is an expert in discrete choice analysis and has been actively involved in developing new choice modeling and segmentation methods and introducing them to the market research community.

He has published numerous articles and presented papers in advanced analytics from original research on new methods at conferences around the world. These contributions include making multiple presentations at the American Marketing Association Advanced Research Techniques Forums, the American Marketing Association’s Market Research Conferences, at the Sawtooth Software Conferences and various academic conferences such as INFORMS Marketing Science Conferences. He has also contributed through published papers in academic journals and teaching university MBA courses.

Chris is currently Executive Vice President and General Manager at Murphy Research, an innovative full-service market research firm. Chris has held a variety of senior level roles for 20 years including Senior Vice President at AbsolutData and Lieberman Research Worldwide (LRW), Founder, President and COO of The Modellers and Managing Partner at King Brown Partners. With a PhD in marketing science, an MBA and Juris Doctor legal training,
